Divine Ikubor (born May 1, 2000), known professionally as Rema, is a Nigerian singer and rapper from Edo State. He was born in Benin City and is signed to Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavin and Mavin’s first-ever imprint record label. Rema won the ‘Next Rated’ award and was nominated for Viewer’s Choice at the 13th edition of The Headies in 2019.

Early Life

Rema was born into a Christian family in Edo State where he also had his primary and secondary education. As a young student in secondary school, Rema embraced life as a singer and a rapper and had hoped to become a professional musician at some point in his life.

Career

At a younger age, Rema moved from one church to another, rapping in other to establish and register his brand in the minds of listeners. Rema’s hustle was an attempt at finding the perfect opportunity to realizing his dream.

While in school, he moved on to create his own live band before he was discovered by Jonzing World’s CEO, D’Prince, who is also the immediate younger brother of Mavin’s CEO, Don Jazzy.
