Worse still, is his brazen display of inexplainable wealth, purchase receipts of expensive designer wear, dining in expensive restaurants and purchase of luxury supercars which has left many wondering how Hushpuppi gets his money.

Of all social media celebrities in Nigeria whose penchant for social media clout is second to none, Hushpuppi conveniently co-takes the lead with Ismaila Mustapha popularly known as Mompa, a former friend of Huspuppi who is now in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) who was arrested in Nigeria after he got wind of a possible arrest by Interpol over a fraud case he is embroiled in.

Nigerians are amazed by how quickly Ray Hushpuppi gained his wealth. Constant parties, private planes and luxurious cars, expensive drinks and fashionable clothes are the main attributes of his lifestyle. A lot of people are wondering if Ray Hushpuppi really earned this or if he made his money illegally.

His flamboyant way of life definitely made him popular among Nigerians. Some love him, and some hate him, but most have come to admire him for living his dream and being able to ‘make so much money in such a short period of time’.

Ray Hushpuppi Source of Wealth

Prior to Ismaila Mustapha’s (Mompha) arrest, nothing was described as Ray Hushpuppi‘s source of wealth on his Instagram page. However, when the arrest of his former associate buzzed, Hushpuppi updated his Instagram page, revealing that he makes his money from real estate development. According to Gar Warner, an American computer forensics research on computer and

What we do know, however, is that Ray Hushpuppi is not a real estate developer as claimed on his Instagram bio. In 2017, Ray Hushpuppi posted a screenshot of his credit notification received via mail. Unfortunately, he exposed the recipient’s e-mail address ‘jwoodscrane@yahoo.com‘, albeit unconsciously.

The name ‘Jane Woodscrane is associated with two but inactive Facebook accounts of two females, with one reportedly living in Houston. Social engineering researchers scanned this e-mail only to find out that it belongs to a woman named Jane Woodscrane who lives in Houston. However, the ‘J’ could have been any other initials, who knows? It still begs the question of how a Nigerian owns such a ‘sophisticated’, foreign name for an email address.

In October 2019, shortly after the arrest of Ismaila Mustapha, popularly referred to as Mompha, Gar Warner, an American computer forensics researcher on malware and social network of Criminals at the University of Alabama tweeted that Mompha is a top ten Business Email Compromise (BEC) and further mentioned Hushpuppi as the next possible person to be arrested being an associate of Mompha.

Raymond Igbalodely, popularly known as Ray Hushpuppi has an estimated net worth of $20 million. This assumption is been made based on the vehicles he owns (a private jet, Rolls Royce, and expensive Range Rover cars), diamond-encrusted pieces of jewelry, and the supposed amounts of money he splurges on global designer brands, as well as the other things he graciously flaunts on his Instagram page.

Controversies

Hushpuppi, as much as his followers love him is quite controversial, all thanks to the life of opulence he lives. In October 2017, Hushpuppi and Ismaila Mustapha popularly known as Mompha fell out and went public with dirty details. Mompha claimed Hushpuppi parents were poor and struggling. Hushpuppi’s father is a taxi driver while his mother is a petty bread seller, according to Mompha. Mompha further alleged that he single-handedly financed, housed and fed Hushpuppi for three months when he first got to Dubai. While Hushpuppi equally responded, Mompha‘s accusations seemed weightier as fans of both questioned how Hushpuppi who lives a ‘glorious’ lifestyle cannot financially support and elevate his parents rather than allow them to struggle like they don’t have a wealthy son.

Hushpuppi Cars

Hushpuppi is said to cruise around town in Dubai with expensive multi-million naira cars. He has been spotted times without number with Lamborghini, Bentley of different models, the latest Rolls Royce Phantom, the latest Range Rover amongst others.

At a time, Hushpuppi updated his Snapchat with a video of him coming down from the 2018 Rolls Royce Phantom in front of a Gucci store, and several passersby brought out their mobile phones, to take shots of the Billionaire Gucci Master.

Rumours have it that Hushpuppi owns a private jet among other exotic possessions that fuel his comparison with the super-rich and influential celebrities in the country (Nigeria).
