Ismaila Mustapha (born June 16, 1979), popularly known as Mompha is a Dubai-based Nigerian ‘big boy’, father of two and the owner cum Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mompha Bureau De Change, situated at Bankole Street, Lagos Island, South-West, Nigeria. He is famous for his extravagant lifestyle which he displays on his Instagram page and was recently apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigeria’s anti-graft agency after he secretly flew to Nigeria from Dubai in order to evade being arrested by Interpol for financial fraud.
Mompha, as he is fondly called is one of Nigeria’s big spenders whose brazen display of wealth and extravagant lifestyle is known to almost all Nigerians active on Instagram, alongside the likes of E-Money and Ray Hushpuppi. In this post, we talk about the Biography of Ismail Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha.
Ismail Mustapha, aka Mompha was born on the 16th of June, 1979 in Lagos. He attended Government College, Ikorodu, where he had his secondary school education. Interestingly, not much is known about his later education years.
Mompha is a proud, happily married Muslim man who never fails to show off his wife and two boys on his Instagram page as they are littered with them.
Perhaps as a result of his wealth, Mompha has friends among the many circles of the Nigerian entertainment industry, namely, in Tiwa Savage, Davido, and Patoranking. He was once pictured with Mallam Nasiru El Rufai, Kaduna State Governor who was the former Director-General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises, and also the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on an aircraft.
Mompha was a very good friend with Hushpuppi, another Dubai-based Nigerian ‘big boy’ with no traceable income source until the duo fell apart over a year ago, leading to a series of allegations. Mompha vowed to ‘deal with Hushpuppi’, and further revealed the state of Hushpuppi’s parents, claiming that Hushpuppi’s father drives a taxi for a living while the mother sells bread. He also claimed he accommodated Hushpuppi whenever he came to Dubai, and that Hushpuppi was fond of borrowing money from him and bringing girls to his house because he could not afford to pay rent. The duo has been silent enemies ever since.
Mompha Net Worth
Mompha had bragged repeated about his obscene wealth. While his estimated net worth cannot be pinned down, his fleet of luxury and supercars, including limited Rolls Royce, high-end Mercedes cars, etc., super expensive wristwatches and designer wears, including the 75th pair of Christian Louboutin signed by Christian Louboutin himself, a wild guess would put Mompha’s estimated net worth at $500 million, if this is not watered down.
Mompha’s Private Jet
Mompha does not own a private jet but flies one regularly when he travels. He has been pictured severally in them.
Mompha was arrested in September 2019. The exact date is unknown as many were not aware until the news was broken by Kemi Olunloyo, a self-acclaimed Nigerian investigative journalist. Mompha was arrested by Nigeria’s anti-graft agency for alleged fraud in Dubai running into millions of Dollars while fleeing from Interpol in Dubai having got wind of a possible arrest. It is unclear how much is involved but according to the official handle of the EFCC, Mompha has agreed to cooperate with them, leaving people wondering whether or not Hushpuppi would be next to be arrested.
Mompha is the second Nigerian arrested for fraud after Obiwanne Okeke, aka Invictus Obi in 2019.
