Ifedayo Lucian Olarinde popularly known as ‘Daddy Freeze’ (born 6 May 1976), is a Nigerian radio host, presenter, convener of the FreeTheSheeple movement in Nigeria and leader of the FreeNation in Christ virtual Church (social media). Daddy Freeze is a well known controversial figure who is famous for openly criticizing Christian religious leaders, particularly on tithing and their extravagant lifestyles.
It is no doubt worthy of note that a handful of Nigerian pastors are living like princes and royalties at the detriment of their church members and some have even found their way into the list of 17 richest pastors in the world and Forbes’ list of richest pastors.

Daddy Freeze Biography
Daddy Freeze was born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, to a Nigerian-Yoruba father and a Romanian-European mother. He has three younger sisters named Yetunde, Omolola, and Oluremi. He attended the International School Ibadan. Daddy Freeze also earned a degree in Sociology from the University of Ibadan.
Daddy Freeze is a veteran in the Nigerian broadcasting landscape as he has been broadcasting for several years running and he sees broadcasting as not a job anymore but as a way of life. His first radio gig was a brief three-month stint with Radio Galaxia in Romania while he was there on holiday in 1996. He had accompanied a cousin of his to the station where she hosted a kids’ programme, and from there he got the inspiration to try his hands in radio broadcasting.
On arriving in Nigeria, he auditioned for a job at BCOS Ibadan and got it. He would spend five years working there while honing his broadcasting skills.
In 2001, Freeze joined one of the foremost radio stations in Nigeria, Cool FM as a broadcaster and production officer. During the course of his career at the popular radio, Freeze interviewed top local and international acts and further became known.
Beyond radio, Daddy Freeze is also an event compère. He has hosted a lot of music concerts and comedy shows and he has anchored Nollywood movie premieres in Nigeria, Ghana, London and Manchester. Some of his hosting gigs include: D’banj’s Entertainer Album Launch, Yes Records Launch in Ghana, TEE A Live in London in 2007, Basket Mouth Uncensored in Manchester 2011, Naija Comedy Blast London & Manchester in 2006, Julius Agwu’s “Crack Ya Ribs” in London 2009, and A.Y Live in 2011.
In 2011, Daddy Freeze was a judge alongside KCee of the now-defunct KC Presh group and Paul Play Dairo on Star Quest, a talent hunt show of repute.
Daddy Freeze has also been a popular face on TV as a lot of people got to know him when he hosted 3 seasons of Coca-Cola Megamillions. He has hosted a lot of game shows and live telecasts including Multilinks Telcoms’ ‘Break the bank’, MLotto mobile lottery, The John Utaka Premier league Challenge, amongst many others.
Daddy Freeze Controversies
It is safe to say Daddy Freeze thrives on controversies. He is an outspoken critic of the doctrine of tithing, prevalent amongst several Nigerian Churches, and as a result, have been a subject of numerous backlashes both from Clergy and laity.
He once got into an issue with popular producer, Don Jazzy when he interviewed Tonto Dikeh and made a statement about a celebrity that gave out recharge cards on Twitter to get fame. Don Jazzy took offense as he saw himself as the one who the statement was directed towards and this led to the trading of words on Twitter. The issue was eventually resolved.
He got into a war of words with musician Timi Dakolo and popular Gospel singer and comedian, Akpororo, over the doctrine of tithing. In a no-holds-barred attack, Freeze launched attacks the duo for supporting tithes after they took a swipe at him. Akpororo would go on to call out Freeze at a comedy show, attacked the outspoken critic. He has also publicly blasted artiste, Etcetera on Twitter for his continuous string of articles that were directed to numerous celebrities and entertainment industry figures.
His jibes at artistes, dignitaries and public personalities has earned him quite the reputation on social media as he always seems to have something controversial to say concerning a trending topic. He most recently attacked people who pay their tithes, saying that was not necessary to do that.
He has deliberately joined wars with certain pastors, who threatened to kill him for speaking ‘against God’. In fear, Freeze made several videos, asking the world to hold the pastors responsible should anything happen to him.
Freeze has always been a man of high tastes and in an interview with Punch, he dissed the international brand, Michael Kors calling it ‘razz’. He also mentioned that he had a collection of watches worth over $32 million. A lot of people took to Twitter and Facebook to air their disagreeing comments on his opinion.
On the 1st of May, 2019, Daddy Freeze interviewed Tonto Dikeh, a popular but controversial Nigerian actress about her broken marriage. He played “the devil’s advocate” (in his own words) by asking difficult questions while the actress answered, exposing long-held secrets about her ex-husband’s family. He would go on to stress the actress ‘dirty spills’ about her husband; an attempt aimed at ridiculing Tonto Dikeh’s ex-husband.
Against Timi Dakola, Daddy Freeze was swift to release a video where he asked people to not take sides in a scandalous interview where Busola Dakola, Timi Dakolo’s wife revealed how her naivety was exploited as a teenager by a popular Nigerian Clergyman, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo.
Although he claims to be anti-tithe and on a ‘mission’ to ‘Free the Sheeple’, many perceive him to be an atheist who derives pleasure at attacking Christian leaders only. Freeze has never attacked Islamic clerics nor other religious leaders.
Daddy Freeze Family
Daddy Freeze has two children from the collapsed marriage with his ex-wife whom he met in his university days. He alleged he left his ex-wife because he was a victim of domestic abuse and even shared photographic evidence on social media. He had been branded as a weakling who got beat by a woman on a couple of occasions. He currently has a live-in girlfriend and they have been together a while.
In 2014, Daddy Freeze won the award for “Favourite Nigerian On-Air Personality” at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2014 which held in Los Angeles. He has also been nominated for numerous other awards.
