Airtel offers one of the best browsing experiences as far as smartphones are concerned in Nigeria. Sadly, there are moments when an Airtel user will need to manually configure their internet settings in order to browse the internet properly.
The reason for this is because the settings are in some cases not received automatically on their phones and as such, would need to manually configure their phones on the Airtel network in order to browse the internet.
To have access to the internet on your mobile phones and tablets or other data enabled devices, you will have to ensure your APN settings are configured correctly on the Airtel network. APN simply means Access Point Name.
Typically, once you insert the Airtel SIM, the settings are automatically configured. However, a need to configure manually might occur. This varies from device to device. In this post, we will show you how to manually configure your Airtel line so that your phone can browse the internet.
Airtel NG Internet Manual Configuration Settings
Follow the below steps to manually configure your Airtel internet settings in order to browse the internet:
- Navigate to your ‘Settings‘ on your device.
- Next, navigate to ‘Mobile Networks‘ and then to ‘Access Point Names‘.
- Select the network you would like to manually configure its settings and tap on ‘New APN‘.
- Under ‘New APN’, enter name as ‘Airtel Internet‘
- Then enter ‘APN’ as internet.ng.airtel.com
- Enter ‘MCC‘ as ‘621‘ and
- Enter ‘MNC‘ as ‘20‘
- Finally, mark ‘APN enable/disable‘ (make sure it says ‘APN enabled’.
- Click ‘Save‘.
- Now select your saved APN as your default APN.
Congratulations! You can now browse the internet, whether it is 3 or 4G. If after you saved your new APN and you still have issues browsing the internet, you might need to restart your phone or device in order to properly sync your setting with the Airtel network.
For iOS devices, the only thing to change is your Airtel APN which is internet.ng.airtel.com.
Note that the APN is a requirement on the network for all data users. It is your gateway to access the web on the Airtel Network. If your phone/device has no APN settings or incorrect APN settings, you would be unable to access the web.
